A lovely short circular walk straight from the door of Cosy Cottage, taking you down into beautiful Bradford Dale and along the River Bradford towards Alport, before looping back through the countryside to Youlgrave. The route passes Youlgrave's riverside swimming area, a popular spot for a dip on warmer days. A great choice if you want a relatively gentle walk with pretty riverside scenery without needing to take the car.

A lovely circular walk from the door of Cosy Cottage, heading through the countryside towards Over Haddon. The route passes the Lathkil Hotel, where you can stop for lunch or a drink and enjoy wonderful views across the surrounding Peak District countryside, before making your way back to Youlgrave.

5.7 miles (9.21 km) • Approx. 3 hours • 289m ascent
A longer circular walk from the door of Cosy Cottage, heading out through the beautiful countryside between Youlgrave and Birchover. With more climbing than the shorter routes, this is a good choice if you fancy stretching your legs and enjoying some lovely Peak District views before returning to Youlgrave.
🍴 Pub stop: The Red Lion, Birchover – a traditional village pub serving freshly prepared food and its own Birchover Brewery ales. A great place to stop for lunch or a drink during the walk. Check current food-serving times before setting off.
7.4 miles (11.91 km) • Approx. 3½ hours • 260m ascent
A beautiful longer circular walk from the door of Cosy Cottage, taking you through Bradford Dale and into spectacular Lathkill Dale before looping through the surrounding countryside back to Youlgrave. With riverside paths, limestone scenery and wonderful views along the way, this is a great choice when you want to spend a few hours exploring some of the best countryside around the village.
